Sales funnel and conversion funnels
What is a conversion funnel or sales funnel?
Have you heard of conversion funnels but have no idea what they are? You know that they can help you generate more customers and sales right? But first you need to learn all there is to know before you proceed to use them. Now, if lack of knowledge regarding conversion funnels is your main problem, don’t worry.
In this post I want to talk to you about what a sales funnel is and how it can help you in your business or that of your clients. Do you want to know the hidden potential of these funnels?
What exactly is a sales funnel?
The sales funnel or conversion funnel is a process that goes through different stages where all the steps that a user has to carry out are specified. From the moment you contact a company for the first time until you become a brand customer.
So that you understand it better: It is the route that your client takes from when he has found your website until they have made the purchase of your product or service.
Why do you have to carry out a sales funnel?
If you design one or more conversion funnels, you will have more possibilities to increase the sales of your business or your subscribers.
➡️ The user who has gone through the sales funnel will be prepared for the purchase. It will be easier for you to close your sales.
➡️ Since the process is often automated, you can achieve sales with less effort and while you sleep. Sounds good right?
➡️ You can offer exclusive discounts to users who are interested in your products or services.
➡️ You will achieve a constant flow of new potential customers who will end up buying.
The sales funnels or conversion funnels are the route that takes your potential customer from when they found your website until they become a customer and make the purchase of your product or service.
What tools do you need to create your sales funnels?
Do you already want to take action with your sales funnel?
It is essential that you have all the tools ready that will help you make the funnel a piece of cake and generate a lot of sales. Take good notes!
Tools to get traffic
Have you thought about how you are going to bring your potential clients to your website?
If not, you’d better start by optimizing your content to receive organic traffic. Or invest in Facebook Ads, Twitter Ads, Instagram Ads and Google Ads campaigns, among others..
Automation and email marketing platforms
Is it useful to attract good users with your campaigns? Yes, but then you will have to have an email marketing tool so that everything goes smoothly in your sales funnels. Don’t you think?
One of the ones that works best in these cases is Active Campaign. Mailchimp also has an automation option, but less developed.
Landing Pages or landing pages for your sales funnels
For your funnel to work perfectly you will have to give something to users. For example: an ebook, a pdf guide, a discount coupon, a course, a product, etc.
To do this, you will have to design a landing page that contains the gift that your potential client is going to receive. If you don’t have technical knowledge, I recommend Leadpages or Unbounce tools, they are very easy and intuitive!
Platforms to host your content or products
It is clear that if the ultimate goal of your sales funnel is to bring your potential customers to your online store, you will not need to create an additional platform.
Do you sell online courses? You will need WordPress templates or platforms like Hotmart to create your courses.
Work on copywriting and design
Do you want your funnels to build trust and engage? You have to create attractive content and design that excites and empathizes with your potential customers.
This is one of the most important tools in Copywriting!
Phases to design your sales funnel
You already know all the advantages that a sales funnel can offer you and the essential tools to create it. What do you think? Take action!
To proceed, I am going to tell you the 3 phases that your sales funnel has to go through. This way your potential customers will be “ready for the goods”.
Shall we start?
Phase 1: Top of the funnel (TOFU)
This is the initial stage of your sales funnel. Also known as the Awareness phase or, what is the same, need and attention.
As this is the stage in which the user seeks information to solve a certain problem or pain point, it is important that you enhance the TOFU (top of the funnel).
The TOFU contents? That’s right, it is basically informative content. For example:
👉🏻 Articles published on your blog. Try to offer your potential client valuable content that can solve their doubts and problems. You have to make them fall in love with your content!
👉🏻 Creation of webinars. This is the ideal format to respond to the concerns of your users and for them to trust you. In this way you will be able to “Give some brushstrokes” of what you sell so that the user begins to be interested in your products or services.
Of course, remember that you must do one thing before starting this initial stage. It is important that you promote your blog posts or webinars through advertising such as Facebook Ads or Twitter Ads. Thanks to this they will get much more traffic!
Phase 2: Middle of the funnel (MOFU)
In this phase of consideration, the user is already aware of the problem they have and they want to know how to solve it. What do you have to do? Here you have to give substance to create MOFU content.
That is, you have to design more elaborate content where you explain how your products or services can help your potential client to solve all their concerns. Thanks to these contents, you can get them to subscribe to your email list.
To give you an idea, I’m going to give you some examples that are ideal for this stage:
- Guides or ebooks. They are the perfect materials to delve into the point of pain that the user has and to guide them to the remedy of all their problems: your products or services.
- Infographics. Providing attractive content for the user, you will be able to show at a glance the path that your potential client has to follow. And thus provide a solution to their problem directly.
- Success stories with your clients. Why not tell your users about the clients you have helped? You can do it in the form of testimonies, videos or even guides explaining step by step all your success stories. These positive experiences with your brand will be the key to increase your sales!
Phase 3: Bottom of the funnel (BOFU)
Once your potential customers have gone through phase 1 and 2, it is time for the BOFU stage. That is, the decision-making phases. The user will decide at this stage the most suitable product or service for them, and therefore, the one to buy. What contents are the most suitable for this stage? The key contents for the user to buy your products in the final part of the funnel are those related to your brand or services, such as:.

- Discount Coupons. Is the user not convinced by the price? Give it the boost it needs by offering a discount coupon for what you want to sell.
- Free demos or samples. This is another way for the consumer to try your products or services and become convinced.
If at this point only a few clients make it through the funnel, don’t despair! This is something quite normal, that’s why it is called a funnel, because some potential customers are left by the wayside. Your next mission will be to try other conversion funnels until you find the right one for your business.
