Facebook Stories Guide for Your Content Strategy
Do you want to know how to upload Facebook stories? This content is great to include in your branded Facebook strategy to help grow followers and boost interactions.
So, we have prepared this guide to help you master them to perfection!
What Are Facebook Stories?
This content is useful to stay connected with your community and share spontaneous or interesting information on your Facebook business page.
Why? Easy. Just click on Add to your story and your phone camera screen will automatically pop up. The moment comes to you and you share it with your followers.
Who can see Facebook stories?
And who can see these Facebook stories? First, if you have a public page, any user can see them. It’s as simple as clicking on the user’s profile picture or, if you follow them, by viewing the Stories feed at the top of the page.
To see who has viewed the Facebook stories you’ve uploaded, just click on the arrow in the bottom left corner of the content. Here you can scroll down to see your story stats.
Where can you see Facebook stories?
Facebook stories can be found in the stories feed at the top of the home page, or by clicking on the profile picture of a user, just like on Instagram.
Another option is to watch them in Facebook Messenger: if a user adds a story, you can watch it by clicking on their profile pic in the chat.
How to Add Facebook Stories
Now, if you want to add a story on Facebook, keep reading and we’ll explain it step by step.
Remember, as always, make sure you’re on the page you want to post the story from.
- Go into the company profile you want to add the story to and click on the profile pic.
- Then tap ‘Add to your story’.
- First important decision: What are you going to create? A story with text, a selfie, or boomerang? A photo/video from your gallery or take a new one now?
- For this step, we will use the camera option to add spontaneous content.
- When you go for this option, you can choose a normal photo, video, boomerang, superzoom, or layout design.
- Take the content you want and get editing!
- Personalize your content with stickers, text (for example, subtitles), music, special effects, or tag people.
- Finally, click Share to Story and you’re done. Your Story has been added.
Now you have this little manual for adding to your Stories. Keep it handy so you can look back on it whenever you need to.
Schedule Facebook Stories
Scheduling and planning content is a huge solution for managing social media because it can help you save time and plan ahead, so you’re not scrambling at the last minute.
Is it possible to schedule Facebook stories? From Metricool, yes. ✅
In order to schedule stories, you need to have a Metricool account and the material you want to share. After scheduling at your preferred time, the tool will publish the story automatically.
Here’s how to do it:
- Inside your account dashboard, click on “Create new post”.
- Upload the content you want to publish to Facebook stories.
- Choose the publication time and day.
- Save and you’re done!
You now have your scheduled post from Metricool, and if you need, you can schedule the content to Instagram at the same time.
Facebook Stories Analytics
Just as you can see your Instagram Stories metrics in Metricool, you can also analyze how your Facebook Stories have performed. To see your Facebook Stories analytics, you can click on “View” to go straight to the story on the application.
The advantage of this? You can have all of your social media analytics in one single place, with the option to schedule your Facebook, and the rest of your social media content at the moment.
Facebook Stories Archives
Facebook also offers the option to view the historical data of your stories. However, this is turned off by default and you need to activate it manually.
That is, you need to activate your Facebook stories archives so you can have access to all your stories, without the data and content disappearing completely. How can you activate your Facebook stories archives?
You can do this from both the desktop and mobile app versions, but here is how you can turn on archives via the mobile app:
- Go to your Facebook profile.
- Next to the “Edit profile” button, click the three-dot icon to open your profile settings.
- Here you will see an “Archive” button.
- Once clicking on this, you will see a “Story archive” option. Inside this window, you will see your story archives if you have the setting turned on.
- If the setting is turned off, click on the settings icon in the top right corner, and toggle on “Save to archive”.
Facebook Story Characteristics
Consider the aspects before you go running to share content in the Facebook Stories section. That way you’ll avoid missing out on some details, and options available for this content format.
Stories Length
How long do Facebook stories last? How long can I interact with them or the users with the content I share? Relax, here’s everything you need to know.
They are temporary and last the same as on Instagram: 24 hours. After that, they disappear. Unlike on Instagram though, Facebook doesn’t have highlighted stories so you can’t save them.
Stories with pictures can last up to 5 seconds, while videos can run up to 20 seconds. Live Stories are only visible for as long as you’re broadcasting.
Interacting with Facebook Stories
Can users interact with my content? Are the comments and reactions to my Story visible?
Users can respond in the comments, which can include a GIF, or with certain emojis (like hearts, etc.).
Like on Instagram, other users can’t see these interactions. Only the person or fan page that posts the story can see these reactions or messages.
Stories Privacy
Can all Facebook users see the Stories I put on my page or fan page? How can I “block” other users from seeing them?
The truth is, privacy for this type of content works just like normal Facebook posts. You can choose who gets to see it.
In Stories, you must choose your audience in the final step before adding the content, using the privacy button at the bottom left. You can hide your story from a user or see which ones you’ve muted.
Enough information? Now you’re all ready to start sharing Facebook Stories. Remember, when you post a story on Instagram you can automatically share it on Facebook, so you have content on both platforms.

How to Download Facebook Stories
You can download Facebook stories from external pages. This option is useful if you upload multiple stories and don’t want to lose them.
To download these stories, we recommend using the Small SEO Tools:
- Find the story you want to download and copy the link.
- Inside the tool, paste the link and click on “Download video”.
- Below you will see each story that you’ve linked and are public.
- Click on Download and you’re done.
You’re all set to schedule, share, and download Facebook stories. Remember that you can post your Instagram and Facebook stories simultaneously, and thus have the content on both platforms.
